Fire Detection
Fire protection is not always one type of detection as one type of equipment may not be suitable for every location, see below the various types of detection that we install and maintain;
Heat Detectors
Used in environments where a smoke detector might generate false alarms, for example, a kitchen or boiler room
Rate of Rising Heat Detectors
These devices will alarm if the temperature rises quickly, or if the temperature reaches a fixed temperature
Optical Detectors
The default choice for most locations, these detectors are tested across the complete range of EN54 fires, however, they are sensitive to around 0.4 to 010 microns, such that are given off from smouldering fires.
Multisensor Fire Detectors
These devices are optical detectors with the addition of a thermal element so they can detect if there is a temperature rise as well as optically detected smoke. Suitable for when the threat of a false alarm exists or the risk varies at different times of the day
Aspiration Systems
An ‘ASD’ system draws air samples continuously from the monitored area through a pipe system fitted with sampling holes at regular intervals. The sampled air is then analysed for smoke particles and an alarm is raised if smoke is present. Suitable for discreet concealed detection/comms room and protected environments or areas difficult to maintain.
Optical Beam Detectors
The detectors work on the principle of projecting a beam of light across a room, which is attenuated when smoke is present thus allowing for an alarm to be given. Suitable for high level factories and warehouses
Do I need a fire alarm system?
Approved document B volumes 1 & 2 is the legislative document that governs Fire Safety in all residential and commercial buildings, this document must be followed under UK law.
Regular fire alarm maintenance is paramount to reliability and performance and must be confirmed to BS5839.
